Mythological Creatures are more than just imagining. They are a glimpse into how our ancestors once saw the World, human literature is full of mythical creatures. Today I am going to show you some of the most bizarre mythical creatures including humanoid mythical creatures, Greek mythical creatures, and some more. It’s almost like I am giving you a mythological creatures list a-z! These are the 22 craziest mythical creatures ever devised.
1) Titans
Titans are humanoid mythical creatures who were the earliest Greek Gods that ruled the World before the Olympians but were eventually overthrown by the Zeus and the Olympians in a huge battle known as the titanomachy (also known as the War of the Titans, Battle of the Titans, Battle of the Gods, or just the Titan War).
2) Centaur
Also called hippocentaur, is a creature from Greek mythology with the upper body of a human and the lower body and legs of a horse. It was known for being wild and lusty drinkers prone to violence while intoxicated this is a far shot from anything you’ll find in Harry Potter or CS Lewis books.
3) Mermaid
Appeared in Folklore of many cultures worldwide, including the near East Europe, Asia, and Africa. Sometimes kind-hearted and sometimes malicious, Mermaids have a sort of bipolar character.
4) Phoenix
The long-lived bird (500-600 years) is often referred to as a firebird, because it cyclically dies and is reborn out of fire i.e. arising from the ashes of its predecessor, and only one can exist at a time.
5) Gorgon
This refers to each of three sisters, Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa, venomous snakes for hair, the most famous of which was probably Medusa. Who had the power to turn anyone who looked at them to stone. Medusa was killed by Perseus.
6) Unicorn
The Bible also describes an animal, the re'em, which some versions translate as Unicorn. In European folklore, it is often portrayed as a white horse-like or goat-like animal with a single long horn, cloven hooves, and sometimes a goat's beard.
There are facts that Unicorns can be in any color, from jet-black and brown to dazzling gold, brilliant red or pure white. Anyone who touches a pure white Unicorn will find happiness and joy for his entire life. Those who drank from its horn were thought to be protected from stomach trouble, epilepsy, and had magical power to make poisoned water potable. The unicorn's eyes are sky blue or purple. Unicorns are earthbound and do not have wings.
7) Hellhound
A Supernatural Dog represented in Greek and Scandinavian mythology as a standing guard in the underworld that usually has mangled black fur, glowing red eyes, ghostly or phantom characteristics, a foul stench, and superior strength.
8) Basilisk
Sometimes more of a rooster and sometimes more of a snake, regardless of how it has been portrayed one thing has always been sure– this mythical creature is purely evil and can cause death with a single glance.
Herpo the Foul was the first to breed a Basilisk; he accomplished this by hatching a chicken egg beneath a toad which resulted in the creature known as a Basilisk.
9) Werewolf
A mythical animal in which a human who turns into a fearsome wolf like-creature at full moon night and eats animals, people, or corpses but returns to human form by day. It was believed that if he is wounded in wolf form, the wounds will show in his human form and may lead to his detection. There is a psychiatric condition in which a person believes he is a wolf is called lycanthropy.
10) Chimera
One of the most well known Greek mythical creatures, the Chimera was a monstrous fire-breathing hybrid creature that had the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a dragon. Sometimes it has the wings of an eagle too. Their only weakness is the ice.
11) Troll
Coming from Scandinavian folklore, trolls are humanoid mythical creatures that are not known to be especially intelligent and live far from human habitation, are not Christianized, and they are considered dangerous to human beings and the only way you can kill one is to burn it.
12) Hydra
Also called Lernaean hydra, was a serpent-like monster. According to Theogony 313, the Hydra is the child of Typhon and Echidna. It had poisonous breath and blood so toxic that even its scent was deadly. The Hydra had many heads anywhere between 5 and one hundred heads. If you cut off one hydra head, two more would emerge from the fresh wound. The monster also had one immortal head that was in the middle.
13) Harpy
In Greek Mythology, Harpies were known to torture Phineus, a blind seer cursed by Zeus, by stealing and eating whatever food he would have. Here, the Harpies symbolize a form of divine punishment, most notably the plague of famine.
14) Bunyip
The Bunyip is a legendary mythical creature from Australian Aboriginal mythology, said to inhabit the reedy swamps and lagoons of the interior of Australia. They were described as having a round head, an elongated neck, and a body resembling that of an ox, hippopotamus, or manatee. They usually eat humans, especially women and children.
15) Yeti
In Himalayan folklore, the Yeti is a monstrous creature that is said to inhabit the upper regions of the Himalayas. Also referred to as the Abominable Snowman or Big Foot in western popular culture. Many people claim that they have seen it, but none have ever been caught. It is supposed to look like an ape that walks upright. Some body parts, said to be of a yeti, are kept in a few monasteries in the Himalayan area.

Pegasus is a Greek mythical winged divine horse, usually depicted as pure white. It is said that when Poseidon cut off Medusa's head, the Pegasus flew out.

Also spelled griffon or gryphon, a composite mythological creature with a lion's body (winged or wingless) and a bird's head, usually that of an eagle. He is king of both beast and air and in legends is often described with words like majestic and powerful.

In Scandinavian folklore, the Kraken is a legendary cephalopod-like sea monster of gigantic size with many arms, it would wrap its arms around ships and capsize them leaving the sailors to either drown or be eaten.

In fiction and mythology, a Doppelganger is often portrayed as the paranormal double of a living person, it’s not a good thing if you spot your doppelgangers, it’s not a good thing at all.
